Dr. Michael Kaplan has several years of experience as a cataract surgeon in Orange County. He began his collegiate education at Pomona College where he was elected to the international honors society, Phi Beta Kappa. Upon completion of his degree, he went to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) to earn his medical degree. He then decided to pursue a career in ophthalmology and interned at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and attended a residency at Washington National Eye Center in Washington, D.C. where he received extensive surgical experience. Following residency, he became Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve at the Beaufort Naval Hospital in South Carolina where he became chief of the Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Department. As a result of the immense expertise he has accumulated over the years, he has gained membership into numerous prestigious medical associations, including the Orange County Medical Association, the California Medical Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Orange County Eye Society.
