Laser Eye Surgery in Saginaw / Flint

Recognizing that each patient has unique visual health concerns and vision correction goals, Dr. Rohr offers a range of laser eye surgery procedures. In addition to performing traditional LASIK in Flint / Saginaw, he offers blade-free LASIK. During the latter procedure, the corneal flap is created with a special laser (during traditional LASIK procedure, the flap is created with a bladed mechanical instrument). Dr. Rohr also performs LASEK and PRK. He often recommends these procedures for patients with thin corneas. While individuals with thin corneas might not be LASIK Flint / Saginaw candidates, they often qualify for LASEK or PRK procedures.

LASEK and PRK are variations of the well-known LASIK procedure. PRK, the "original" laser eye surgery procedure, does not require creation of the corneal flap. Instead, laser energy is applied directly to the cornea. LASEK procedure differs from LASIK in that LASEK uses a different method to create the corneal flap. During LASEK, an extremely thin lawyer of the epithelial cells is lifted from the eye's surface using a special alcohol solution. Because the flap is significantly thinner than the flap created during LASIK procedure, LASEK is appropriate for many patients with thin corneas.
